Barney Harford has served as CEO and Director of Orbitz Worldwide since 2009.

Orbitz Worldwide is a global online travel company operating brands including, CheapTickets, ebookers and HotelClub in the United States, Europe and the Asia Pacific region. Dedicated to building its brands to be the world’s most rewarding places to plan and purchase travel, Orbitz Worldwide generates more than US$12 billion in annual gross bookings. 

During Barney’s tenure the company has achieved strategic success in mobile, developing award-winning apps for iOS and Android; launched Orbitz Rewards and ebookers Bonus+, simple and free loyalty programs that offer traveler instant rewards; and built the Orbitz Partner Network into a well-positioned provider of private label travel solutions to partners in the airline, hotel, travel agency and bank loyalty industries. 

Barney previously served in a variety of roles at Expedia, Inc. from 1999 to 2006 including as President of Expedia Asia Pacific from 2004 to 2006, leading the company’s entry into China, Japan and Australia. Prior to Expedia, Barney worked in the United Kingdom as a strategy consultant with The Kalchas Group. 

Barney is a member of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Travel and Tourism Advisory Board and the U.S. Travel Association’s CEO Roundtable. 

Barney serves as a board member of LiquidPlanner, an on-demand project management service that is transforming the way organizations manage complex projects. Barney previously served on the boards of directors of eLong from 2004 to 2008, of Orange Hotel Group from 2009 to 2012 and of GlobalEnglish from 2008 to 2011. He was an advisor to in 2008. 

Barney holds an MBA from INSEAD and a Master of Arts in Natural Sciences from Clare College, Cambridge University. 

Barney is originally from the United Kingdom and has spent time living in France and China. In his spare time, he loves escaping to the mountains and the ocean – skiing, climbing and surfing. His wife Beth is senior vice president of product at GrubHub, the nation's leading online and mobile food-ordering company dedicated to connecting hungry diners with local takeout restaurants. They live with their son and daughter in Chicago.
